1. Provide a one paragraph written overview / summary of your job.

       Medical Radiation Technologist use x-ray and other imaging equipment to take images of injuries and diseases.

2. What are the working conditions like?

Medical radiation technologists:

usually do shift work, which may include weekends and evenings

may be on call, particularly at public hospitals

work in hospitals, medical laboratories, private practices, and clinics.

3. What skills and knowledge are required for this career?

It needs to have knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathology, positioning and imaging techniques, and how to use x-ray equipment, physics and radiation physics

, safety issues related to the use of radiation equipment and radioactive materials.

4. What are the personal qualities that you require to do this job?

• provide information to patients about what will happen during their examinations.
• prepare patients and equipments for examination.
• produce diagnostic images
• check the quality of images taken
• make reports
• perform quality assurance testing on equipment

Medical radiation technologists prepare and comfort patients for scans

Medical radiation technologists with one to six years experience may earn between $50,000 and $69,000 a year.

Medical radiation technologists with more than six years experience may earn between $71,000 and $98,000.

FQ 2: What are the advantages and disadvantages of your job

Say goodbye to boring routines. You can work pretty much anywhere. You can earn a healthy living. It’s a career you can feel good about. You can have your own leisure time when you are not on call. Allows you to help others Can work in various medical settings.	Work hours may include evenings, weekends and holidays. May require lifting or turning heavy or disabled patients. Possible exposure to radiation. Work may require travel to remote locations. Work may require standing for long periods.	They have to deal with completely uncooperative individuals to get on the x-ray table and position them. Being able to do our job well, even under immense stress, could mean the difference between a patient’s life and death, or them being able to receive an appropriate diagnosis.

1. Has technology impacted on their job? If so, how?

it will impact radiology by the technology that improves every year in our today’s society, That includes patient history, problems, information about the order; patient allergies will be accessible to the radiologists in the click of the button. The orders will come in, in a cleaner fashion; right now they come in on paper, and radiology can help provide decision support in the ordering process, so that the right test is ordered for the right patient and the report will come in with all of the information that the radiologist needs.

2. Was there anything discussed that surprised you?

None.

3. How do you think their working experience will differ from your own?

          I think it will differ their working experience from my own by how long they have become a radiologist and by experience as well, but it will not differ from mine if I worked hard to improve my skills as a radiologist.

1. Why you think this job is important, what values does it promote?

     I think this job is important because you can help others and Radiology’s role is central to disease management, with a wide choice of tools and techniques available for the detection, staging and treatment. Diagnostic imaging provides detailed information about structural or disease related changes. Early diagnosis saves lives. Without diagnosis there can be no treatment, there can be no cure.

2. Why have you chosen this career to investigate?

I have chosen this because I was curious if I can do this job and if it will suit my liking and my interest, and I want to help people and serve them.

3. What qualities and skills do you already have that suit this career?

• My social skills for preparing the patient.
• My understanding and following instructions.
• My eagerness to help people.

4. What qualities and skills do you need to develop for this career?

    My experience and to improve my social skills to suit the liking of the patient.

My researching skills improved during this research.

2. What have you found challenging during the research?

       The sometimes lack of information and explanation and the complicated words.

3. How did you try to overcome these challenges?

      I tried to understand it and revise it and put it to my own words instead.

4. If you were to do this again what would you do differently and why?

    None.
